Girls basketball: Vreeman leads Southwest Christian
PIPESTONE — Sophomore forward Kassydi Vreeman scored 21 points with eight rebounds to lead Southwest Christian to a 65-51 girls basketball victory over Pipestone Area Thursday night.
Vreeman converted three three-point shots. Teammate Hope Veldkamp added 11 points with four rebounds, three steals and three assists. Ann Pater tallied 10 points for the Eagles.
Libby Schneider scored 18 points with five rebounds for Pipestone Area.
With the victory, Southwest Christian moves to 5-3.

EDGERTON — The Flying Dutchmen jumped out to a 20-5 lead to begin the contest, but Hills-Beaver Creek fought its way back into the game and ventured within six points of Edgerton with four minutes to play. Jenny Nelson hit two vital free throws down the stretch to put the Dutchmen up by eight and seal the deal. Nelson netted nine points and grabbed three steals, and Jessica Jasper pitched in eight points and eight rebounds.
Tanner Gunnick had a double double for Edgerton, with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Alexis Mertens scored eight points and nabbed four rebounds.
The Patriots were boosted by Taylor Wingert’s eight points and Kelli Esselink’s 13 rebounds.
