REDWOOD FALLS — Worthington closed its girls basketball regular season by claiming a 67-50 victory at Redwood Valley Monday.

The Trojans (now 21-2), led with two players scoring in double figures, outrebounded the Cardinals and led by as many as 20 points at one juncture in the second half. Worthington senior Paige Gravenhof scored 24 points to lead all scorers in the game. She finished with three of the team’s four three-pointers. Junior forward Ana Boever added 22.

Senior post Brooke Henning seized seven rebounds. point guard Abbie Landgaard collected six while handing out four assists. Boever finished with six boards and just as many takeaways.

Junior guard Lauren Hanson and forward Makenzie Mace each put up 11 points for the Cards while senior guard Tara Sandgren tallied 10.

Up by eight points at the break, the Trojans ballooned their lead after halftime and rarely looked back. At the close of the season, Worthington head coach Eric Lindner said he is pleased with how things have gone thus far.

“We had a big run after halftime and played a lot of kids,” Lindner said. “We feel pretty good about our season. No matter who you’re playing, if you go into the gym 23 times and win 21 of them, you have to feel good about your season.”

The outlook is simple on the playoffs for Lindner. The Trojans will learn their seeding for Section 2AAA on Wednesday.

“We know we’ll have to play two good halves of basketball,” Lindner said of his team’s needs in each game of the postseason.
