Girls hockey: Luverne tops Hutchinson
HUTCHINSON — Luverne sophomore Mikayla Sterrett scored on a power play 11:53 into the third period to vault her Cardinals past Hutchinson 4-3 in a girls hockey game Friday night.
Madisyn Dingmann scored the game’s first goal, off assists from Madilyn Oye and Sterrett. Mariah Aukes, a freshman forward, then added to the total scoring two goals —one unassisted and another off assists from Dingman and Oye —to give the visitors a 3-3 game to win.
Sterrett’s shot pushed Luverne’s record to 16-3 on the season. Following the game, Luverne coach Tony Sandbulte was pleased with his squad’s effort and ability to, once again, go on the road and get a win.“We knew it would be a battle going into their barn,” he said. “We played a solid defensive game and put our chances away.”Luverne 0 1 3 —4Hutchinson 0 0 3 —3
