'Good Ole Summertime' set for this weekend in Sibley
SIBLEY, Iowa — Summer is finally in full swing, and the community of Sibley is celebrating just that with its “Good Ole Summertime” celebration this weekend.
The festival is poised to be another success, with events ranging from bean bag tournaments to golf ball races.
New events are also planned. “Bark for Life” will take place on Saturday morning — the event is very similar to “Relay for Life,” except it’s with dogs.
“The ‘Bark for Life’ event is something we haven’t done before,” Sibley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cheryl Peters said. “It’s going to be really fun.”
Inflatable toys for children, coordinated by the First Reformed Church’s Outreach Group, will also be added to the festivities.
A glow run will take place at 9 p.m. Friday to raise money for Eli Jansma. Before the run actually occurs, participants can play volleyball, tennis and more in Central Park before registering for the walk/run.
To pre-register, email Josh Wagenaar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
