Granstra's 18 points leads SSC past H-LP
OKABENA -- Katey Granstra scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the first half and Betsy Voehl netted all 13 of hers in the second half Saturday afternoon, as Southwest Star Concept posted a 56-45 non-conference girls' basketball victory over Harris-Lake Park.
Granstra also pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked five shots to help the Quasars (3-1) win their third straight game. Erika Post and Kelsey Beyer added 12 and eight points, respectively, for SSC, which hit five 3-pointers in the game.
Deni Peters (10 rebounds, two assists) and Christine Larson (10 rebounds, three steals) each scored 14 points for H-LP, while Jena Peters contributed eight rebounds and a pair of assists for the Wolves (1-4), who tied the game at 18-18 on a basket by Larson with 3:49 to play in the first half.
The Quasars had earned an early 14-5 lead, and after H-LP's 13-4 run to tie the score, SSC finished the half with a 9-3 burst.
Voehl scored SSC's first 12 points of the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers, lifting the Quasars to a 39-28 advantage with 12:31 to play. SSC later opened up a 49-33 lead with 5:10 to go.
SSC will host Blue Earth Area today.

TYLER -- Shooting 19 percent in the second half, the Southwest Christian Eagles were outscored 26-15 in an 11-point non-conference loss Saturday.
Kara Van Dyke scored 13 points to lead the Eagles (3-2), while Vayla Van Dyke added seven points.
Abbie Hanenburg scored seven points and had four rebounds, five assists, four steals and blocked three shots.
Jada Vander Veen had a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with three assists and three blocks, while Brianna Spronk had three assists for SWC, which will host Ellsworth Tuesday before traveling to Fulda Friday.

MINNEOTA -- Despite Dillon Hanson's double-double, Round Lake-Brewster was defeated in a non-conference basketball game Saturday.
Hanson scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Raiders (0-3), while Tyler Oolbekkink and Tim Kennedy each scored eight points.
Minneota's Shane Hennen scored a game-high 21 points, while Jacob Cheadle (16) and Zac Corbin (10) each scored in double figures for the Vikings (3-1).
RL-B will travel to Southwest Star Concept Thursday.
