Ham Radio class to be offered
WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Area Ham Radio Club will host a Technician HAM Radio Class at the Worthington Civil Air Patrol headquarters on Jan. 6, 8, 9, and 15, with an FCC test on Jan. 16. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. each day.
The multi-media type class covers a variety of topics, and includes two CDs and a simplified technician manual.
The technician license allows individuals to operate above 30MHZ and use all of the two meter repeaters sprinkled throughout southern Minnesota. With a repeater, you can use a handheld radio and talk 50-60 miles.
Interested individuals should contact Rod Byam at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register for the class. There is no fee for the class, however a charge must be assessed for the test.
