Hamilton: House Majority Whip

ST. PAUL -- Dist. 22B Rep. Rod Hamilton, R-Mountain Lake was elected House Majority Whip by his House Republican colleagues Tuesday. The position is the third-most powerful in the House Republican caucus.

Hamilton said the main function of the Majority Whip is to gather votes on major issues.

"I'm pleased to have earned the trust of House Republicans," Hamilton said. "I feel I can bring new ideas and new energy to our caucus in this leadership position, and am ready to hit the ground running."

Hamilton's district covers all or parts of Cottonwood, Jackson and Nobles counties. He is completing his third term in the Minnesota House, and was re-elected to his fourth term on Nov. 2.
