Heard to play football at Northwestern

ORANGE CITY – Edgerton’s Isaac Heard signed a letter of intent on Friday to play football at Northwestern College this fall.

Heard played quarterback for five years at Edgerton Public, racking up a school record 5,014 passing yards and 62 touchdowns while rushing for 1,050 yards and 11 scores. He also set school records for passing yards (2,748) and touchdowns (35) in a season while setting a state record with 368 passing yards in the state championship agme in 2011.

“We are very excited to have Isaac join the Red Raider football family,” head coach Kyle Achterhoff said. “We have followed his high school career very closely and believe he can have similar success at the college level. It will be fun to continue to watch his growth as a quarterback at Northwestern.”

Heard earned all-state honors in nine-man football over his last two seasons at Edgerton as well as earning all-conference honors twice.
