Heat advisory issued for O'Brien County, Iowa
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory to be in effect from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday for O'Brien County, Iowa.
Hot and humid conditions can be expected Thursday afternoon, as heat indices will climb to 100 and 110 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours. Some relief from the heat is expected Thursday night as thunderstorms approach from the north.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
