Henrietta Aielts, age 94, died on July 2, 2014, at Country View Manor, Sibley, IA. She was born to Harm & Anna Risius at Fulda, MN on January 9, 1920. Three siblings died at birth. The remaining eight girls were raised by her father after her mother died giving birth. She grew up at Fulda and Sibley, attended teachers' college and taught in Iowa. She then got a permit to teach in Minnesota due to the shortage of teachers and taught in country schools in both states. She met Ailt Aielts at a basket social, and after courtship they married at a Country Church south of Rushmore on July 30, 1943. They lived on their farm between Bigelow and Rushmore until November 2011 when they moved to The Meadows assisted living in Worthington. Henrietta and Ailt enjoyed many winters among friends in Mission, Texas. She liked having company and working on word puzzles. On June 19, 2014, she and Ailt moved to Country View Manor in Sibley where she entered hospice care.
Henrietta is survived by her loving husband Ailt Aielts of almost 71 years, daughter Marilyn (Robert) Nienkerk, son Alvin Aielts and daughter Carol Bain; granddaughters Michelle Marotzke and Marie (Bill) Shores; and great grandchildren Tyler Van Eps, Ashley & Cody Fults and Isabel Shores; one sister Trena DeVries and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Linda Aielts and son-in-law, Kenneth Bain.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery near Rushmore, MN.
