High-speed chase in Rock Rapids
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- A man is being held in the Lyon County Jail after a high-speed chase late Tuesday.
Lyon County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at 417 W. Michigan Avenue in George, Iowa. Ryan Earl Klein, 23, allegedly displayed a knife and threatened bodily harm, then got into his vehicle and led the deputies on a pursuit through the streets of George. The pursuit proceeded outside George, with speeds reaching up to 100 miles per hour, until coming to a stop in the 400 block of South Boone Street in Rock Rapids, where Klein was arrested without incident.
Klein is being charged with eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor; six counts of failure to obey stop signs; one count of speeding; and one count of careless driving. In addition, Klein had to valid warrants for his arrest relating to an incident that took place March 25 in George. He was arrested on the following warrant charges: domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor; and reckless use of a firearm, a simple misdemeanor.
He is currently being held on a $2,300 bond.
