WINDOM -- Work on the new U.S. 71 bridge south of Windom has been delayed due to high water in the Des Moines River, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The bridge replacement project began July 12 and was expected to be complete by Oct. 15. Officials now expect completion to be closer to mid-November.
Highway 71 traffic continues to be detoured to Cottonwood County Road 17 and Jackson County Road 30.
There is a 12-foot width restriction on Highway 71 in both directions from Cottonwood County Road 25 to Highway 60.
