"The passing was better and we played pretty well," Worthington assistant coach Mark Raboin said. "Moving the puck was better in general from what we've had. We're skating a lot better."

Leading 1-0 entering the third period, Luverne (9-11) scored three unanswered goals.

Fitzer scored an unassisted goal early in the period, and then scored on assists from Paige Olson and Steph Schultz, giving Luverne a 3-0 lead.

Dahl scored her second goal of the night to give Luverne a 4-0 lead.

Heffernen then scored in the final seconds, cutting the final deficit to three goals.

Taylor Baumhoefner made 53 saves for the Trojans, while Luverne's Katie Shearer stopped seven shots.

Luverne will host Morris/Benson Area Saturday, while Waseca travels to Worthington the same day.
