Holiday lighting contest winners announced

WORTHINGTON — The Don and Helen Brands home, 1240 Maplewood Drive, took first place in the annual Holiday Lighting Contest sponsored by the Community Improvement Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, Worthington Public Utilities and the Daily Globe.

Second place in the contest was the Dan and Sara Krueger home, 2625 Fox Farm Road, and third place went to the Bernard Strouth home at 1941 Cecilee St.

The Brands receive a $100 credit on their December utility bill and $100 in Chamber Checks. The Kruegers earn $75 in Chamber Checks and a $75 utility bill credit; and Strouth earns $50 in each.

The homes were judged on best use of color, most original, best composition, most spectacular and best expression of Christmas.

Main Street Kids was named as the business holiday lighting winner and will receive $100 credit on its December utility bill.
