The 2014 amount was the highest in the history of the event and brings the money raised by the Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends grant program to a nine-year total of $1,298,000.

The goal of the Hy-Vee/Sanford Legends program is to provide a learning opportunity for young student athletes to grow and be inspired in the world of sports by providing different sporting clinics and camps. Each year, celebrity athletes who represent the Legends goals — quality, integrity and character — are brought to Sioux Falls.

Nearly 5,000 participated in 2013 Legends events.

This year’s $175,000 will be divided in half to support the football camp grant program (high school teams who sup-ported the Celebrity Football Camp) and the free sports clinics grant program (youth athletic organizations).
