Investigation nets 17 arrests in Iowa
SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- Many facts of the case were kept non-specific, but the Dickinson County Attorney's Office and the Spirit Lake Police Department released Tuesday the names of 17 people who have been arrested and charged in the "Broken Arrow" investigation that delved into drugs and gun trafficking.
"There some details we just aren't going to be able to answer right now," stated Melanie Summers Bauler, assistant county attorney, adding that an investigation is still ongoing.
Tuesday's press conference was planned, Bauler said, because her office and the police department had been getting so many questions regarding the names of the people arrested.
"We wanted to put that to rest," she said. "We wanted to reassure the public about who we have and who we don't."
One person still being sought is Annette Marie Loerch, 24, of Spirit Lake. Of the list of 18 names handed out Tuesday, Loerch had not yet been arrested. Those who have been arrested, some of whom are already out of jail on bail, range from ages 18 to 41, both men and women. They are from several Iowa cities including Spirit Lake, Albert City, Milford and Lake Park.
