Unfortunately for the home team, it fell just a bit short as West Lyon held on tight for a 3-2 Siouxland Conference win.

“It was a lot better,” S-O coach Marshall Doeden said. “Especailly when we had to rally from being down 3-0.”

The Wildcats scored single runs in the first, fifth and sixth to take a 3-0 lead, but a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh had the Generals knocking on the door. They had the tying run on second with just one out, but couldn’t quite come up with the one more big hit they needed to complete the comeback.

Kyle Green went the distance in the loss for S-O. He allowed one earned run on seven hits and struck out six. Kacey Merlie got the win for West Lyon.

Garrett Sayler, Logan Heibult, Trent Kruger, Matt Naig and Andrew Marco had a hit each for the Generals.
