Iowa high school baseball: Sibley-Ocheyedan falls on the road
HARTLEY, Iowa — The Sibley-Ocheyedan baseball team took another lump Thursday when it dropped its third game in as many days.
The Generals picked up an early run, but a red-hot Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn offense was more than they could overcome. The Hawks went on to take an 11-1 Siouxland Conference victory in five innings.
H-M-S got rolling right away with four runs in the first. The Generals got one back in the second, but the home team did them one better in its half of the inning. In all, the Hawks managed to score 11 runs on only four hits.
Brady Meinders went one and two-thirds innings in the start to take the loss for S-O. He allowed five earned runs on two hits while striking out one. Evan Metzler got the win for H-M-S.
Garrett Sayler led the Generals at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Kyle Green, Jamison Cosgrove, Alec Hoppe and Trent Kruger added a single each.
