Iva Elsie Habeck
Iva Elsie Habeck was born on February 27, 1916 in Calumet, Iowa to Herman and Therese (Wiese) Jungjohan, who were immigrants from Germany. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on June 10, 1917. The family moved to a farm northwest of Lake Park, IA where she grew up with her sisters and brother and attended country school. Following her education, she remained on the family farm to help her parents. Her son Marvin was born on the farm in 1938. She married Harold Habeck in 1956 and they farmed northeast of Round Lake where she was a homemaker and helped with many chores. They retired into the town of Round Lake in 1980. Harold died in 1981. Iva loved to spend time with her family and took great interest in the lives of each one of them. She was a wonderful cook and baker and always welcomed company. She enjoyed life, liked to have fun and will be greatly missed. Iva went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington at the age of 97.
She is survived by her son Marvin (Fran) Jungjohan of Lake Park; grandson Steve (Melissa) Jungjohan of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandson-in-law Doug Sangl of Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren Mackenzie (Sami) Jungjohan of Ft. Bragg, NC, Abigail Jungjohan of Iowa City, Zacharis Jungjohan of Ft. Hood, TX, Kayla Jungjohan of Port St. Lucie; great-great grandson Noah Jungjohan of Ft. Bragg; nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Mabel Mohns and Gladys Wiese, brother William, granddaughter Lori (Jungjohan) Sangl and grandson Timothy Jungjohan.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake, MN, with Pastor Bart Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery.
