LAKE PARK, Iowa -- The 29th annual Farmer Appreciation Days will be Friday through Sunday in Lake Park.

Throughout the weekend, an 1800s re-enactment village will be set up in the City Park, and people will be able to participate in activities such as a tomahawk throw, basket weaving, games and daily breakfast.

The full schedule of events is as follows:


10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friends of the Public Library art, painting and photography exhibit, Lake Park Library

5 p.m., Golf Fun Night, Silver Lake Country Club


8 a.m., 5K Run-Walk and 1-Mile Fun Walk for the Cure, starting at the corner of Market Street and Avenue A East; slow-pitch softball tournament begins

8 to 9 a.m., bake sale sponsored by the Harris-Lake Park junior class, Market Street and Avenue A

10 a.m., free watermelon feed, in front of Buy Rite Foods on Market Street

10:30 a.m., parade with grand marshals Jeff and Phyllis Johnson

11:30 a.m., Maidrites, soft drinks and chips served at Water Plant next to City Park

Noon, free kiddie train rides around City Park

Noon to 4:30 p.m., inflatables for kids, city park

1 p.m., bake sale by Harris-Lake Park Cheerleaders, City Park

12:30 p.m., bean bag tournament

12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Friends of the Public Library art, painting and photography exhibit, Lake Park Library

1 to 5 p.m., free family swim day at Lake Park Pool

1 p.m., water fights, City Park; Bovine Bingo raffle tickets available, City Park

3 p.m., Lucky Duck drawing

5 p.m. to 1 a.m., beer garden, in front of Lake Park Auto Repair on Avenue A West

9 p.m. to 1 a.m., street dance featuring IV Play, outside Johnny's Pub

11 p.m. to 4 a.m., breakfast buffet, Cap'n Kens


8:30 a.m., Ride Around Lake Park-Harris, with 5-, 15- and 25-mile routes, leaving from United Methodist Church parking lot

1 p.m. (registration at 12:30 p.m.), fifth annual Farmers Appreciation Tractor Ride, City Park

3 p.m., Lake Park Fireman's Cruise-In and Supper leaving from City Park with supper served at 5 p.m. back at the park

5 p.m., Bovine Bingo raffle winner announced
