Leesa was born on December 9, 1962, in Worthington, MN, to Richard and Barbara (Tripp) Tow. Her father died unexpectedly when Leesa was six weeks old; Barbara married Paul Hagen in 1964. Leesa grew up in Worthington, attending local schools and graduated from high school in 1981. Leesa was an accomplished equestrienne; winning many awards while showing quarter horses on the national circuit. Because of her love of animals, she wanted to become a veterinarian. Beginning at Gustavus Adolphus, she completed her undergraduate degree at SMSU. In 1989, she graduated with honors from Iowa State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Leesa was united in marriage to ISU classmate Terry Riordan on May 11, 1991. The couple began their veterinary careers in Phoenix, AZ. They were later divorced. Leesa fought fibromyalgia for many years. Even through her roughest times, her love and compassion for all animals never wavered. In 2010, she moved to Independence, KS to be closer to family and also found many new dear friends.
Leesa is survived by parents Paul and Barbara Hagen of Worthington; brothers Rob Tow of Andover; Dan (Paula) Tow of Independence; Bryan (Sue) Hagen of Worthington; nephews Travis and Trevor Tow, Turner and Carson Hagen, niece Lauren Whitson, and Leesas beloved service dog Isis.
