Post 5 defeated Madison, Minn., 20-6 on Friday, North St. Paul 7-2 on Saturday and Alexandria 6-4 on Sunday.

The Worthington Legionnaires, who had entered the tournament struggling somewhat on defense, satisfied head coach Todd Rogers with the gloves in the Alexandria Tournament. The other parts of their game were even more satisfactory as they ran their summer record to 14-3.

"We played good ball this weekend. Nate Ray pitched a gem there (against Alexandria). North St. Paul and Alexandria are two very good teams," said coach Rogers.

In the championship game, Ray hurled the first six and one-third innings and allowed four Alexandria hits. He struck out five. Logan Rogers finished up, going two-thirds and allowing the final Alexandria hit.

Post 5 scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 6-2 lead, then coasted from there.

Tristan Sorenson, Henning and Mitchell Baumhoefner all had a pair of hits to lead Worthington's 11-hit onslaught.

Hits rained on Madison in Worthington's first game of the tournament. Blake Rogers led the way with four safeties while Logan Rogers, Henning and A.J. Hayenga each had three. Henning belted a solo home run in the fifth inning.

In all, Worthington amassed 20 hits in the contest.

Blake Rogers pitched the first four innings and was the winning pitcher. Ray pitched two innings and Logan Rogers finished. All six of Madison's runs were unearned.

Against North St. Paul, Henning pitched a complete game victory, allowing four hits and striking out six. Blake Rogers had a pair of hits.

"We hit the ball good," coach Rogers said in wrapping up the three games. "The pitching was solid all the way through, and the defense was solid all the way around."
