Legion baseball: Worthington tops Pipestone
PIPESTONE — Blake Fauskee pitched three solid innings in his first American Legion baseball outing and Worthington’s Post 5 defeated Pipestone 8-5 Tuesday.
“We were a little short-handed. We went over with 10 guys,” said Post 5 coach Jeff Nelson.
Fauskee started on the mound for Worthington, allowing one run while walking three and striking out none. Ryan Lee and Jordan Bertrand also pitched for Worthington.
“He kind of kept the ball around the plate,” Nelson said of Fauskee’s performance. “When he’d get behind, he’d fight back and close out his innings. He did a fine job.”
Mario Sada was the losing pitcher for Pipestone.
Tyler Hatterman tripled for Worthington. Brady Bos doubled and singled for Pipestone.
Worthington, 4-2, will compete in the Luverne-Pipestone Tournament this weekend. Post 5’s first game will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Pipestone against Garretson, S.D.
