Letter: Attend Lake Park meeting on shooting facility
Worthington Minnesota 300 11th Street / P.O. Box 639 56187

By Wade R. Wagoner, Lake Park, Iowa City Administrator

I’ve been in Lake Park for 10 months now. The identity of Lake Park is becoming clear to me. We are simply one of the best small towns in Iowa, especially for recreation.

0 Talk about it

As I’m out marketing our town to new businesses and potential residents, the conversation often turns to our amenities. Few towns with a population less than 1,500 can boast the following:

* A high school

* A lake of nearly 2 square miles (lakeside campground and park, fishing, boating, skiing, tubing)

* Golf course

* Frisbee golf

* The best public hunting in the state

* A trail system

* Bowling

* Tennis

* Sand Volleyball

* Pool

* Little League facilities

* A vibrant downtown

* A trap, skeet, rifle and Archery Range?

With shooting sports growing in both youths and adult participation throughout Iowa and the country, the time is right for Lake Park to explore a leadership role in developing a regional shooting facility. This new facility could serve as home to high school trap teams, registered competitions, corporate events, and recreation with family and friends.

Come join us join at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Lake Park Community Center in exploring this opportunity and being part of yet another exciting recreational option for our great community. This meeting is open to the public.
