Letter: Early Risers Kiwanis Club keeps busy, helps many
A special thank you the community support for the past support of our annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser. This is our main fund raiser for the year. Your contributions will help provide many services to children in Worthington and the surrounding area.
Here is a partial list to whom we gave financial aid and hands-on assistance:
Scholarships were given to five students (a total of $1,350 for 2010).
We give financial support and aid in delivering the Christmas baskets, the Manna Food Pantry and for the backpacks at Prairie Elementary.
We serve as Bell Ringers for the Salvation Army.
We give a monthly contribution to "Camp Love's Embrace," a camp that helps kids who have difficulty in dealing with the death of a loved one.
We also support the Worthington YMCA, the Boy Scouts, the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, TAC and its annual garage sale, and serve as drivers for the high school prom.
We have very active members, and we enjoy the close relationships we have with one another. We accept new members of either gender, ages 18 to "??." Come and check us out and be our guest. See how much fun we have at our meetings and in serving the kids of our community, and the children of the world. We meet every Wednesday with a social time from 8 to 9 a.m., and a club meeting and guest program 9 to 10 a.m.
Now don't forget to come to our Pancake Feed on July 25 at the Elks Club where you will get a great meal of pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. We will be serving from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
We thank you for your support.
