Members of Early Risers Kiwanis, who weren't able to physically paint on the schoolhouse and front office building, donated to purchase hours given in service by the high school AOK (Art Optimist Kiwanis) Club. The club worked vigorously after school for 34 hours until the end of the school year. Gail Holinka, adviser to the AOK Club, strongly encouraged the service project and even personally picked up the brush.

Thanks to Antonio, Angelica, Karina, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Nancy, Araceli, Aric, Maggie, Jorge, Alex and Mike, who scraped, primed and painted on the 1899 Gilmen School of District 46, once located 2½ miles north of Brewster on Nobles County and the office building, built by Brewster Lumber on site in 1984.

Thrivent Insurance donated $600 in funds to purchase materials. It is greatly appreciated by the coordinator of the project, Curt Pearson, and the Nobles County Historical Society Inc. Thanks again to everyone involved.
