Letter: "Goose pollution" plagues Lake Okabena
We were in Worthington on Sunday and enjoyed dinner at one of the fine restaurants. After dinner we went shopping and then went on a drive around Lake Okabena.
I have read several articles in the Daily Globe about the lake, algae blooms and how to clean up the lake, but the biggest cause of lake pollution was so obvious Sunday -- and I don't think it has ever been mentioned. It's the thousands of geese.
I can't imagine how big a manure spreader it would take to hold one week of goose poop. Imagine how many nutrients from the poop are contributing to algae blooms. Until the goose pollution problem is solved, you are going to have algae blooms.
