Letter: Great job, area wrestlers and coaches
I wanted to take a few moments out of my Saturday morning routine to extend my congratulations to our area wrestling programs, coaching staffs and to the outstanding individual performances from last week's State Wrestling Tournament, as well as the qualifying tournaments leading up to state. To say the least, southwest Minnesota was well represented at the state level, and they all should be extremely proud of their accomplishments.
Special congratulations to Worthington/RLB's Anthony Luft and Carson Hagen for their individual performances, with Anthony bringing home a state championship and Carson finishing fourth in a very challenging weight class. Also congrats to the Adrian Dragons and their State Team Dual performances, as well as individual qualifiers Skylar Heironimus, Ryan Elias, Jayden Bullerman, Tony Lynn, Matthew Slater and Jesse Slater.
The future of these programs appears to be in good hands, with the majority of these athletes and fellow team members being underclassmen. This success is indicative of the outstanding youth programs in these communities, headed by volunteers, parents and high school coaches. Great job!
As a former wrestler, it is exciting to see the successes and accomplishments of these youth and these programs, not only on the wrestling mat, but also scholastically and as role models within their schools and communities. In my book, success is not only defined by wins and losses, but how they represent themselves, their schools and their communities. Mission accomplished! There are no greater lessons, than those learned from working hard, dedicating oneself to a purpose, and following through, no matter the outcome. Again, congratulations and keep up the hard work
