Letter: Gun control debate doesn't address primary problem
Gun control, gun control, gun control. It seems that's all you hear on the news lately. The anti-gun zealots are pushing for an agenda that will only deprive law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights. What they should be doing is addressing the real problem that has been the problem in every case -- mental health issues. Oh, that's right. We can't say anything because it might violate someone's First Amendment rights or privacy rights.
Why do we allow the trampling of our Second Amendment rights but not address the root problem? Mark my words, if we end up having a national gun registration, it will only affect legal gun owners and law-abiding citizens. The next step will be confiscation, which will leave the doors wide open to crooks and outlaws and leave citizens helpless.
