Letter: Second level is a library suggestion
With the parking problem surrounding the expansion of the library, maybe a little thinking out of the box is required.
Perhaps a second level added to the north side of the existing library -- that is constructed on pillars allowing for a parking lot underneath -- could be the answer. This would create a covered, protected parking lot that would give additional parking to an area that needs it.
Yes, another elevator would be required, but still, this type of addition would be cheaper than relocating to another site and building anew. Most likely, if the library was moved, the building would still have to be maintained, adding strain to the budget.
As for the library needing an outdoor space for children's programs, we have many beautiful parks in this city that would meet any need for such activities.
Let's get creative! Anyone else have some new ideas?
