Letter: Thanks for support of Red Cross blood drive
By Rose Weitgenant, American Red Cross volunteer, Worthington
On behalf of the American Red Cross, I wish to thank all of our dedicated donors who gave the gift of life at our recent blood drive in Worthington. Eighty-two units were collected.
Thank you to our first-time donors: Johnny Murillo, Worthington; Vincent Reum, Worthington; Steven Schempp, Worthington; Larry Van Beest, Worthington; and Makenzie Williams, Brewster.
We also wish to thank our long-time donors who reached a milestone in blood donation: Vern Correll, Brewster, four gallons; Margaret Lammers, Bigelow, one gallon; and Gene Voss, Fulda, eight gallons.
A special thank you to the American Reformed Church, who graciously provides their facilities for our four blood drives throughout the year: Dairy Queen, Pizza Ranch and Family Video for providing coupons for our donors; and Jason Vote, State Farm Insurance, for the food served in the canteen. The RSVP members are always so willing to call donors, schedule appointments and enter information into the computer. Thank you to our volunteers who help with registration and work in the canteen.
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. That means more than 38,000 blood donations are needed each day. The American Red Cross will sponsor its next blood drive on Thursday, April 24, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the American Reformed Church. Please give the gift of life!
