On Tuesday, June 11, the voters of the Round Lake and Brewster school districts will be voting on whether to consolidate to be one unified school district.
If the patrons of the district vote no, then the fate of the Round Lake school district will eventually end up in the hands of the county, at which time the Round Lake district will be swallowed up and dissolved. Most likely, the fate of the Round Lake district would be ending up with the Worthington School District.
When Round Lake is part of the new district, the citizens in the Round Lake district will be paying higher taxes. I have heard it could be anywhere from three to five times what they pay now.
I would urge that the patrons of both school districts vote for consolidation and keep local control and the Brewster School operational indefinitely.
