Leon Baldomero Villarreal, 26, who lived in Worthington at the time of his arrest, was convicted in July 2007 of criminal sexual conduct and sentenced to serve 180 days in jail. He had pleaded guilty to one of two charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct against a 13-year-old female juvenile.

The victim said Villarreal had forced her to have intercourse when she and her sister visited his house after running away from home.

Villarreal's sentence was amended to 48 months in prison later that year after he was convicted of a probation violation, having failed to register as a predatory offender after his release.

Nobles County Sheriff Kent Wilkening said Villarreal would be released to the jail sometime next week for 30 days.

Whether he is free to go after that or will be incarcerated at a different facility is unclear at this time.

Currently, Villarreal is in custody at the Minnesota Department of Corrections in Rush City. According to the DOC website, Villarreal was scheduled for a September release.

The release notification from Wilkening's office states Villarreal will be required to register his address when he released from jail, but that the DOC and sheriff's office do not have the right to direct predatory offenders in where they work or reside.
