Liquid manure truck crashes in northwest Iowa

LESTER, Iowa (AP) — A 20-year-old man was injured in a crash that spilled liquid manure into a ditch and field in northwest Iowa.

The Sioux City Journal reports (http://bit.ly/I3Vs6k ) that crash was reported near the town of Lester on Thursday.

The Lyon County sheriff's office says a man from Pipestone, Minn., was driving a semitrailer hauling the manure when the rig's tires began to sink into the soft gravel on the road. The rig rolled into the ditch, spilling manure, and the driver was thrown from the truck.

The unidentified driver was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was notified about the spill.
