Lucille (Lucy) Reka Louise Hale was born on August 16, 1916, in Jackson, Minnesota, the daughter of Ludwig and Nell (Tessien) Edlin. After graduating from Jackson High School in 1934, she was united in marriage to Charles "Bud" Hale on August 26, 1945, at the Salem Lutheran Parsonage. Lucy first worked for the Chozens Department Store in Jackson in the 30s and later at Jackson Drug and Ashleys Hallmark Store until she was 90 years old. She became a resident of the Jackson Good Samaritan Center on June 10, 2013, where she passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

Lucille was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, where she was an active member in Mary and Esther Circles, the Monday morning sewing group, Ladies Aid, church council, and altar guild. She was also a Sunday school, release time, and Bible school teacher. In addition, she was active in the Good Sam auxiliary and Good Sam Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Dee Hale of Worthington; 2 grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Keenan of Chaska, Minnesota, and Adam (Amy) Hale of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; 6 great-grandchildren: Ella, Joshua, and Jed Keenan, and Axel, Archer, and Abram Hale.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Nell, her husband, Charles "Bud," and a brother, Milton Edlin and sister-in-law Ruth Edlin.

Visitation will be today (Tuesday) from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. There will be a private burial on Wednesday followed by a memorial service at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Salem Lutheran Church.
