Lyle Calvin Gade
Lyle Calvin Gade was born October 4, 1926 in Heron Lake, M. to Edward W. and Martha N. (Gieffert) Gade. He was baptized by Pastor E. Trapp on November 7, 1926 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena, Mn. He was confirmed on March 17, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN. Lyle graduated from Okabena High School in 1943. He married Donna Mae Wolff on February 15, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church by Pastor George Schweikert.
Lyle entered the US Navy in 1943 and served in World War II until his discharge in 1945. While in the Navy he served on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier. After being discharged from the Navy, he started farming in West Heron Lake township in Heron Lake, MN. In 1965 he started as an Agricultural Inspector for Jackson County Minnesota. He retired in 1995. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, fishing, watching the Vikings, Twins and high school sports. He was involved with his church and community. Lyle enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors and relatives.
Lyle Calvin Gade, age 86, of Heron Lake, MN died Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN.
Lyle is survived by his children: son, Michael and wife Linda Gade, and daughter Sandy Weldele, 5 grandchildren: Adelee (Wade) Dixon, Vanessa (Robert) Vincelli, Tyler Gade, Lacey Weldele and friend Jimmer Moses, and Katie (Bode Clitherow, and 4 great grandchildren: Jacob and Isaac Dixon and Boden and Niko Clitherow, 1 sibling Claire Mayer and 1 brother-in-law Bill Hebron and many nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, 2 brothers and sisters-in-laws: Harry and Florence, Raymond and Dot, 5 sisters: Ruth and Bud Walters, Edna and Harry Driver, Lou Hebron, Lorry and Raymond Gunther, and Helene and Don Arant and son-in-law John Weldele.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. On Sunday, August 4, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN. with Pastor James Albrecht officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN
