Magnus: Assistant majority leader
WORTHINGTON -- Minnesota State Sen.-elect Doug Magnus has been chosen as Assistant Majority Leader by the Senate Republican Caucus, according to a release from his current House of Reprentatives office.
Magnus, who hails from Slayton, noted that Amy Koch of Buffalo was elected Senate Majority Leader and Michelle Fischbach of Paynesville was elected President of the Senate.
"I am honored to have received the support of both the voters and my new colleagues," Magnus said via e-mail. "I was concerned about the loss of a number of experienced senators from rural Minnesota, which is one of the reasons I ran for this office. I'm not only pleased to have won, but pleased Senate Republicans are in the majority."
Magnus was one of four members elected as Assistant Majority Leader in the Senate. The leadership role, he said, will allow him to help set the caucus agenda and ensure the voice of rural Minnesota is heard throughout the process.
