Man bit officer during arrest
FARGO - A Fargo man is accused of biting one officer and hitting another in the lip with his knee during a traffic stop early today, Sgt. Jeff Skuza said.
Police stopped a vehicle at 3:08 a.m. in the 2500 block of 10th Avenue North and discovered that the female passenger had a protection order against the male driver, Skuza said, adding the woman appeared to be with the man willingly.
Steven Wayne Kenney, 43, of Fargo, was arrested on suspicion of driving under suspension and violation of a protection order.
After Kenney was handcuffed, "his demeanor completely changed." Skuza said.
"(He) became aggressive and angry with the officers, started kicking at the car door, had to be taken out of the squad to have his legs secured," Skuza said. "And in the process of that, he managed to bite one officer in the knee and kick another one in the mouth and hit his bottom lip with his knee."
Kenney was restrained and taken to the Cass County Jail. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony assault on a peace officer and preventing arrest, Skuza said.
