MOUNTAIN LAKE -- An 18-year-old rural St. James man is in stable condition after being caught in an auger on a rural Mountain Lake farm Thursday morning.

A previous report that he had died due to his injuries was incorrect.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office received a call at 8:31 a.m. Thursday of a farm accident at a residence on 570th Avenue, approximately one-half mile south of Mountain Lake.

The victim, whose name was not released as of Thursday night, was inside a feed trailer trying to break up feed when he slipped and his foot went into the auger.

The man was transported to the Windom Area Hospital and then flown by air ambulance to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

Assisting at the scene were the Mountain Lake Fire and Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
