Man pulled from Des Moines river
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Authorities a man who was apparently swept over a dam in downtown Des Moines was rescued by emergency crews in two boats.
The man was pulled from the Des Moines River shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday.
The Des Moines Register states the man couldn't hold on to the ropes tossed by firefighters from a series of downtown bridges. He continued to float downstream and eventually grabbed a concrete leg of a bridge and held on until help arrived.
The man, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital.
