Manure management workshop offered
HERON LAKE -- A manure management workshop will be offered July 31, at the Heron Lake Community Center. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided.
The program begins at 10 a.m. with a report from Kiel Tschumperlin, Heron Lake Watershed District, on the TMDL implementation background. Also on the agenda is a report from Jose Hernandez, University of Minnesota Extension, on phosphorus management and the economics of manure; Andrew Nesseth, Extended Ag Services, Inc., on grid sampling techniques and economics of precision ag; and Wayne Cords, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, on manure record keeping requirements, setbacks, emergency response and manure sampling techniques.
