A lifelong resident of Worthington, MN, she was born the eldest of three children to Theodore & Maria Johanson. She attended school in Worthington and at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN. Prior to her marriage to Robert Earl Shipley in 1951, she worked for Glencoe School District, & the Nobles County Auditors Office.
Bob & Margaret were married for 58 yrs. until Bob died in 2009. This marriage resulted in five children. She devoted time to raising her family and once her children started school, she reentered the workforce and had a 24 year career in the Administrative Office of IDS #518.
