Marlene Joanne Wagley
Marlene Wagley was born on September 1, 1934 in Slayton, Minnesota to Harry and Viola Ellgen Pearson. Marlene grew up on the family farm near Hadley, MN and attended Slayton High School. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 6, 1952 she and Harold Bud Swan were married at United Methodist Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton and raised their two children. Harold passed away on June 29, 1969. Marlene worked at Swifts in Marshall and later at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington. On December 31, 1985 she and John Wagley were married at the United Methodist Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they continued living in Slayton. Marlene worked in the Murray County Veterans Office until 2009 when she retired. In January 2012 Marlene became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the age of 78. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Slayton. She also was member of the Slayton VFW Auxiliary and the Slayton American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, John Wagley of Slayton, MN, two children, Deborah Mitchell of Slayton, MN and Donald Swan of Sioux Falls, SD, four grandchildren, Heather Mitchell (Brent Braun), Heath Mitchell (Mandy West), Chad Mitchell (Amanda McFarland) and Justin Swan, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Carol Ackerman and her husband, David of Slayton, MN, six nieces and nephews, her parents-in-law, Robert Bob and Patricia Pat Wagley of Slayton, MN, several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Harold Swan, granddaughter, Ashley Rose Swan, great-granddaughter, Ceona Jer Mitchell, sister, Arlys Stueven and her husband, Ray, nephew, Randy Stueven and son-in-law, Gerald Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jon Marburger officiating. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN.
