MARY ELIZABETH ROGERS, age 78, of Reading, died Friday, February 14, 2014, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 10, 1935 in Lake City, MN to parents, James and Isadora (Cronin) Glynn. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lake City Public School. After graduating, she attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN graduating in 1957 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing.

On May 24, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to William A. Rogers while he was based at Fort Hood, TX. After two years of being stationed in Germany, Mary and William moved to rural Reading where they farmed. Mary started her nursing career at the Adrian Hospital and at the Campbell Soup Company. She was also a nursing instructor for Worthington Community College. For many years, she devoted her time working in multiple nursing roles at Worthington Regional Hospital until retiring in 1998.

Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, and trying her luck playing the slots at the casino. She had a strong love for animals. Mary's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Through her Irish spirit she taught us all how to be strong, independent and stubborn!

Mary is lovingly survived by her husband William of 55 years; their children, Steve (Kami) Rogers, Stewartville, MN; and their children, Angela, Andria, Tyler and Tara; Kim Lewis, Jackson, MN; and her children, Zachary (Suzanne) their children, Collin, Benjamin, and Ryan, Cody (Bethany), Jordan (Samantha); Paul (Deb) Rogers, Reading, MN; and their children, Danielle, Megan (Jake) Montag, and their two daughters, Heyden and Avery; and Emily, John (Lisa) Rogers, Blue Grass, IA; and their daughter, Hailey; Mark Rogers, Reading, MN; five siblings, Teresa (Don) Carlson, Rochester, MN; Catherine (Jim) VanLiere, Pagosa Springs, CO; J. Patrick (Patty) Glynn, Minneapolis, MN; Margaret Stary, Northfield, MN; Sheila (Joe) OLeary, Rapid City, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Michael Glynn.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:30 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will also be an hour prior to the service at the church.

The memorial service will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials sent to Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN or St. Catherine University: Nursing Program in St. Paul, MN.
