Mary "Mae" Scully

Mae Scully was born on May 9, 1939 in Pipestone County, Minnesota to Joseph and Frances Donnay Cullen. She grew up on an acreage near Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1958. Following high school Mae moved to Slayton and worked for the Peterson family as a nanny and also at Palms Steak House, which was owned by Palmer and Marje Peterson. On August 1, 1961 she and Joseph Scully were married in Woodstock, MN. Following their marriage they farmed the Scully family farm on the shores of Lake Corabelle south of Iona, MN. One of Mae and Joes favorite thing was to go dancing. Joe passed away on March 14, 1999. Mae remained on the farm until October 15, 2013 when she moved to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN. She passed away there on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the age of 74. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Iona. Mae also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Iona VFW Auxiliary and the Neighborhood Birthday Club. Mae enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sewing, fishing, puzzles, gardening, canning and babysitting.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Patricia Gilb of Slayton, MN, Mavis and Timothy Lehr of Eureka Springs, AR, Maxine Scully of Rogers, AR, Thomas and Jeannie Scully of Gravette, AR, and Laura and Curt Ramerth of Fulda, MN, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Laura Heard of Woodstock, MN, Leone Ackerman and her husband, Bob of Hadley, MN, and Teresa Smith of Pipestone, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe and sister, Audrey Hermeling.

Funeral services will be at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. James Seitz officiating. Interment is at St. Coulmba Cemetery in Iona, MN.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Columba Church in Iona from 4-7 p.m. with a CDA Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church on Tuesday.
