Meeting set on highway projects
JASPER -- An informational meeting on construction on Minnesota 23 from Pipestone to Interstate 90, which includes a detour, and U.S. 75 near Trosky will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 2 in the meeting room at Memorial Hall, 105 Wall St. E., Jasper.
The Minnesota 23 project is split into two segments. The northern segment, from Pipestone to Jasper, will remove and replace the top three inches of pavement and be done under traffic using flaggers and a pilot car.
The southern segment, from Jasper to I-90, will remove the existing pavement and replace it with a drainable base and six inches of concrete. The detour is east on I-90, north on U.S. 75, west on Rock County 12 and Pipestone County 1.
The Minnesota 23 projects are scheduled from May to July, weather permitting. The project cost for the Pipestone segment is $4.4 million, and the I-90 segment is $10 million.
Two culverts on U.S. 75, south of Trosky, will be replaced in the fall and require a detour from August to November, weather permitting. The detour follows west on Rock County 12 and Pipestone County 1, north on County 15 and east on County 2.
The U.S. 75 safety enhancements cost $1.05 million. They will improve drainage and provide a safer road surface for motorists.
Duininck Inc. is the contractor for all three projects.
