ELLSWORTH -- Freshman all-around athlete Karli Meyer was sensational in the circle Tuesday, leading her Adrian Area girls' fast-pitch softball team to a five-inning, 10-0, victory over Southwestern United.

Meyer twirled a no-hitter at the Wildcats, nearly notching a perfect game -- giving up just one walk in the third inning.

Meyer, who ripped an RBI double in the second inning, fanned a total of 11 batters, striking out the side in both the second and fifth frames.

Briana Niebuhr, AA's clean-up hitter, ripped a pair of triples, driving in the Dragons first run with her first blast.

Mary Loosbrock rapped a two-RBI single in the first frame and Shania Lonneman drove in a pair of runs -- with a double in the first inning and a long sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Brooke Kramer also hit an RBI single for AA and Sam Lynn smacked a couple of hits.

Niebuhr and Kramer each scored twice for the Dragons, while Lynn, Melissa Weidert, Meyer, Loosbrock, Courtney Dreesen and Alissa Meyer each scored once for the balanced AA attack.

Kasey McNab struck out five batters in four innings for the Wildcats, while giving up just three walks.

Ceilia Schmitz drew a one-out walk for SWU in the third inning, becoming the only Wildcat base runner in the game.

The Dragons (3-5, 5-9) travel to Edgerton today for a make-up game. The Wildcats (1-8, 2-15) host Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Thursday.
