Milroy amateur team nips Windom
WINDOM -- The Milroy Irish's Isaac Dolan was able to hold off a late run by the Windom Pirates to claim a 12-8 road win for the Irish Tuesday during an amateur baseball game.
Milroy scored five runs in the second inning, but Windom picked up three runs of its own to cut the lead to two. However, the Irish put together a six run fourth inning to jump out to an 11-3 lead. Windom scored two runs in the next two and a half innings, but still trailed by six heading into the seventh.
Milroy tacked on a final insurance run in the top of the seventh and was able to hold Windom to just three runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
Kirby Johnson and Matt Anderson each had two hits to lead the Pirates offense, while Johnson added two RBIs.
Derek Riley went 3-for-4 for the Irish with an RBI to lead the team at the plate.
Windom (3-9) hosts Heron Lake Wednesday.
