Murder-suicide investigated at Crossroads Care Center
WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Police Department is investigating a murder suicide stemming from an incident Friday night, according to a press release.
At 9:55 p.m. Friday, the Worthington Police Department received a 911 call from the Crossroads Care Center staff on McMillan Street after a report of gunshots in a private room.
Officer responding to the room in the facility found 87-year-old George Doust sitting on a bed with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Doris Doust, 86, was lying on an adjancent bed with a gunshot wound to her head. A handgun was recovered in the room. Doris is a resident at Crossroads.
Worthington Police Officers, Nobles County Deputies and Sanford Ambulance personnel performed first aid on both of the injured. Both were transported to Sanford Worthington Regional Medical Center and later to Sioux Falls, S.D., where they were prounced dead.
The Worthington Police Department is investigating the incident.
