Murray County Central superintendent resigns
SLAYTON -- Steve Jones, who has served as the Murray County Central superintendent and high school principal for four years, has resigned.
"It's very difficult to leave because it's been a tremendous four years at MCC, but I really feel confident that this district will continue to make positive impacts on the students and stakeholders of the district," Jones said.
His resignation will be effective June 30. He will begin work this fall as superintendent in the Sibley East district, serving students from Arlington, Gaylord and Green Isle.
"I really feel in the four years I've been here we've really been able to unite staff, students and the community," he said. "We've really been able to enhance our curriculum; we've given kids a lot more options for their education."
Jones added that the district has also increased its enrollment and become more financially stable during his tenure.
"Right now, I feel there's a lot of trust and faith in what we do here at the school," he said.
The MCC school board will plan a search for Jones' replacement during the next six weeks.
